I don’t know If I said it already but …Cool site, love the info. I do a lot of research online on a daily basis and for the most part, people lack substance but, I just wanted to make a quick comment to say I’m glad I found your blog. Thanks, :)

    A definite great read….

  6. marek says:

    Hi
This is a great simple plugin and I understand that you don’t want to add too many features. However, I wish it could be possible to click on the slideshow and go to another url… that way I can make a very active rich-media site!
    Thanks

    • admin says:

hi marek, thanks for the suggestion. i don’t know a simple way to add the feature without breaking the cursor navigation … and also where/how to assign URLs. any ideas?

  7. Angelika says:

Heya, loved your slideshow. It worked fine until earler on today, now it doesn’t anymore.

I even went as far as uninstalling and reinstalling the plugin. I have the slideshow on my homepage under the header on the actual page. The images are there ok, I did everything as before, except for changing the background to white (Thank you, really pleased to have that option now). However, slideshow will not work.

    Any suggestions, please?

  8. admin says:

if you got a black screen, it could mean that you installed the new version but the old slideshow player is still in your browser cache (you can check this by clicking on the black screen, it should say version 1.3 instead of 0.7)
can you post a link to the page if the problem persists? thank you.

    • Angelika says:

I’d love to have my slideshow back … please help!

I have even deleted the page (it sits on the homepage below the header), and recreated that page loading all the images up afresh.

I have done everything I did before when it was working fine, such as adding [showtime] before and [/showtime after the images.

      Thank you,
      Angelika

  9. Angelika says:

Thank you for your reply. it says 1.3 and the link to my site is:

    http://www.journeyofintimacy.com/

(it’s a new site, still working on it)

    • admin says:

Angelika, this plugin does not require you to add the pictures on the page itself. It pulls images linked to the page. In order to be linked, the images must be uploaded via WordPress “Add an Image” button in your page editor. hope this helps :D

  10. Pothi says:

Fantastic plugin. I’m loving it. It’s showtime everywhere NOW!

  11. marek says:

Thanks for answering. I would prefer no cursor navigation, and then in the gallery image ‘description’ field, or any other, insert the url to go to…

Another way is, if the text is overlaid over the image, then that is clickable to a url….

  12. adhi says:

    this is cool wordpress plugins.
    the images slideshow is good

  13. Wow, really great slideshow! Super easy and looks great. Thanks!

  14. khin vothy says:

I like these slideshow . Thanks

  15. David says:

I just started with this plugin and it seems to be working really nicely. I go through the process of adding an image to my post, saving the post, then deleting the image from my post to get the image attached to the post without also showing the image in the post. My question is, how can I REALLY delete an image from the slideshow once it’s attached to the page? I thought to use Gallery, but my Gallery always shows up empty. Thanks.

    • admin says:

David, the only solution i can think of is to delete the image from the library. To do so, go to Media > Library find your image and hit delete.

  16. Tony Kwan says:

I fix it after changing the scale.

  17. gbusiness says:

I have a problem, the plugin work ok, but it say: sorry no image found!

    Thankyou

    • Paul says:

make sure that your images are attached to the post. To do this, edit your post, click the button “Add an image” and select your image file. The image does not need to actually be inserted into the post.

  18. superb plugin. i am happy to use it without any html or other knowledge. so easy to use it.

  19. marujo says:

hi. the demos are not showing in firefox. i can see in IE7, but doesnt appears in FF. see it. thanks.

    • Paul says:

please check if you have the most recent version of Flash, and try again. on all computers I tested it worked, however FF 3.5 requires Flash to be up-to-date for security reasons.

  20. steve says:

Wroks great when installed in a post.

Cannot get the id=null functioning. I am looking to put slideshows all over the place as attention getters. Have many pictures in posts, uploaded through wordpress media.

Function is currently installed in sidebar, at bottom under the ’slideshow’ heading.

    • Paul says:

Steve, you may need to manually edit 2 files (I’m not sure if I changed this already in the last release)
      In showtime.class.php remove line 73 $id=intval($id) and in getxml.php change line 50 to read $galleryID = ($result['id']);
then in your post and enter [st id=null]. In the sidebar, you should use the function like this

  21. Geng says:

Thanks Paul for such a great plug-in!
I have tried to use the slideshow on a new site but couldn’t get it going. The show area appeared to be the background color but the pictures could not show up. I went through the steps of inserting images and made sure they were all linked to the post. I am using FF on PC, but can see slideshows on your page properly. Since the site I am using it was set up just hours ago using WP 2.8.5, I wonder if compatibility is the problem. Here is a link to the page, http://www.kinesiologene.net/New%20GENG%20site/wordpress/, and it will be really appreciated if you could point some direction for me. Thanks!

  22. Jean-Lou says:

    Hi
Thanks for this great plugin. Works great!
But is there a way I could change or customize the loading cursor?

    • Paul says:

hi. you are welcome. the loading cursor cannot be customized currently, however I’m working on a fix for the cursor that is visible before the first image is displayed.

  23. Giuseppe says:

    Hi,
I’ve the same problem of “gbusiness”: I have added two pics on the post, inserted this code

    [showtime width=595 transition=panandzoom transitiontime=10 transitionease=none autoplay=on showcontrols=off showtext=off shuffle=on]

and I have the two pics as normal pics, and the plugin with the dark blackground showing: Sorr, no image found!

    Any solution??
    Thanks!

  24. mar says:

Hi, I would like to add your slideshow to my blog header, I don’t really know a lot about php, I already tried adding show_showtime(id=36) to the header file, but it didn’t work. Can you tell me how should I do it?

    • mar says:

      I also added…

And Still does not work :(

Sorry, I don’t kow php… Thanks for your time!

    • Paul says:

Hi the attributes must be within quotes, like this: show_showtime("id=36"); .

      • Tiffany says:

Yeah, I was confused about this too. It might help if you edited the sample that shows up in the configurations page:

“Use the function show_showtime() to hardcode a slideshow in your templates. This functions takes the same options as the shortcode, but separated by the “pipe” symbol. e.g. show_showtime (id=123|width=50|height=50)”

If you could change that to the more accurate

that might help…..if I even have this right! Anyway, I just got it working thanks to your tip about the quotation marks.

        • Paul says:

hi Tiffany, thanks for the tip. I have just noticed my mistake! In the upcoming version, I have rewritten the usage instructions. Hopefully it will be less confusing…

      • mar says:

        thanks Paul,
I finally made it work, here are some tips or the people that as I don’t know a lot about this….

If you have some spaces between the code the text “Sorry not image found” will show.

If the quality is not good even when you added quality=best in your code, check your main settings, where it says “Source Image (Window)” select full.

        Thanks!

  25. staima says:

    does not work in MSIE!?

  26. Any way to change the font used for captions?

    • Paul says:

not at the moment.. I would have liked to use html fonts, but they did not render as cleanly. So I chose to embed a font into flash. This could change with a future version.

  27. Lorraine says:

I love this plugin – thanks for much!!

A stupid quesiton – but is there a way to have it rotate once through the photos and then stop on the last one and stay there?

I’m trying to use it as an attention grabber but don’t want to keep saying the same thing over and over.

    :)

  28. i just don’t get the slideshow hard coded into my theme. can anyone help me. I want to use it in a header of my blog. I tried to change the header.php already but it didn’t work. I used this code: show_showtime (“id=123|width=50|height=50″)
change the id from 123 to my post id with 2 pics. the front-end just shows the code above. would appreaciate any help thanks anyway for that great plugin.

  29. Erik says:

Great slideshow plugin, I am tryiung to use it in a post and would like the post’s text to wrap around the slideshow. Not sure how to accomplish this as I am a new to web authoring and wordpress. Thanks.

    • Paul says:

just write your text in the editor and put the [st] shortcode wherever you want the slide show to appear.
      There are many ways to wrap text around a bloc in CSS. You may want to play around with the .showtime class. In your style.css file, add a line like this: .showtime {float:left; padding-right:20px;}

  30. huu says:

Great plug-ins, I like it but too bad it does not work on fire fox

  31. huu says:

    (addition to the previous post)
    I’m using FF 3.5.x, and flash 10,0,32,18
plug-in does not work. IE works fine.

  32. chinaphone says:

Thank you for sharing.. I will be downloading this cool plug in.. sure it will be usefull for my sites..
    Thanks!

  33. leroy depew says:

I’m not sure what i’m doing wrong. I cant get pictures to post on the player… Please help

  34. leroy depew says:

the player says sorry no image found… ps on the control panel I have to scroll halfway down before i get info to post ie; autoplay etc…
the control panel i’m talking about is in the media section. I hope I’m not using the wrong version of wordpress

    • Paul says:

That’s correct, the showTime settings are in the Media section. The plugin is designed for WordPress 2.8.x If you are using earlier version of WordPress, the settings may not be displayed properly.

  35. leroy depew says:

several of my clients would donate to have this working on their blog… Please help… http://www.saintgeorgenow.com

  36. Eric says:

  38. Jean says:

    Hello,

Thanks for this great plugin !
I’ve just one problem, I can’t set the width on my homepage. It’s working perfectly on other pages, any ideas ?
    Thanks

  39. Finally! I found your plugin. I’ve been looking all over for the right application. I’ve installed it and am very happy.

    Thank you!

  40. Rod Ash says:

Great piece of work! How can I make the caption black box smaller in size? Or at least change the height? Thanks for your time.

    • Paul says:

hello Rod, to adjust the height of the textbox, edit the Style Sheet in the ShowTime options. The space between the lines is determined by the .spacer class.
      e.g. .spacer {fontSize: 2;}
You can find more info in this post

  41. Scott says:

    Hi – Great Plug-In.

I’ve gotten it to work previously, now it’s not.

    http://www.pdxjacl.org/JACL/?page_id=98

The images load individually and I get the “Sorry, no…”

    Any clues would be appreciated.

    Thank you for your work.

    • Paul says:

Hi there, I suppose that the images on this page are too small to have a ‘medium’ size. Try adding a source attribute. e.g. [st source="full] This will force the plugin to look for the original image files.
On your ‘TEST’ page you may want to add autoplay="on"

  42. lik says:

    really it works fine,
    thks so much.

  43. Jack says:

This plugin is the best. Spectacular really!

My only issue is that it sits below my javascript menu and the dropdown on my menu no longer appears to work on pages where the showtime is running. Either it’s conflicting with the javascript (not likely)) ot the menu is dropping behind the slideshow instead of on top of it.

Do you have any suggestions to remedy this?

  44. Sports Blog says:

These demos look really nice, I think I’ll give it a try.

  45. vipul patel says:

    Thanks for the great plugin.

however i am having issue with Firefox 3.5.x with mode set to Opaque. however it works fine in IE/Chrome/Safari.

    Many thanks,
    Vipul

  46. Cody says:

I looked around for every and tried out many plugins and scripts until I found this…and from the get go it is perfect. Really great plugin! Thanks so much.

I do seem to have a minor problem though when I map a domain….let me explain

I set up a website under a wordpress mu install. I then used the domain mapping plugin for WPMU and pointed the domain name threadinginaz.com to mzj.bizsitesnow.com(the WPMU install). The slideshow is perfect on http://www.mzj.bizsitesnow.com but then when I map the domain to http://www.threadinginaz.com I am left with a blank screen and no slideshow.

Any thoughts on how to fix this?

    Thanks again

    • Paul says:

for me, it seams to work on both domains.
      did you resolve the problem?

      • Cody says:

        No I havent yet….

do you mean when you go to visit the site? Thats because right now I just have the threadinginaz.com domain forwarding with masking to mzj.bizsitesnow.com.

        • Cody says:

Im still having an issue with this. I looked at the source code on the page when I have it mapped. It looks like the problem may be this…

          var flashvars = {

          xml : ‘http://threadinginaz.com/wp-content/plugins/showtime-slideshow/showtime/getxml.php?attr=id^14*source^full*sourcehd^full*’,

there are a couple instances where it is looking for a directory under the root threadinginaz.com, however the root is actually mzj.bizsitesnow.com (but is displays as threadinginaz.com because the domain mapping plugin)

Does anyone have any thoughts on this? How do I fix that?

          Thanks
          Cody

  47. Riefa says:

    Hi Paul,

I just install your plugins because i want to have a slideshow exactly like example no. 2.
But i can’t managed to get that result.

two main problems that i think i got here:
    1. i can’t easily attach (not insert) an image to a post/page
    2. i use [st] but the only thing showed up at the page was a small clickable thumbnail.

Please advise..:) and fyi, i’m new into this web dev…:)

    Thanks.

  48. John says:

I don’t see that is works currently, but would it make sense to be able to link image ID rather than page/post id?

It seems limiting to only be able able to link to page/post and there would not be an ability to build multiple shows some of which containing some duplicate images.

    Example:
Page A with ST show – with 3 linked images
Page B with ST show – with 5 linked images
Page C with ST show – with an image from A and one for B and a few of it’s own linked images.

    Thanks!

  49. John says:

wow, trying to manage the page linking, making changes, and deletions is a total nightmare.

  50. Jack says:

I love this plugin. It makes my site spectacular. I’m so impressed that I sent in a token donation.

My only problem is the transparent setting in Firefox. Once that page is cached, you no longer see the slideshow. All you see is a blank box where the slideshow should be. Deleting the cache restores the slideshow.

It seems like this is a common problem around the net with Firefox. The solution (discussed here) is to declare wmode twice.

Will you be issuing a fix for this?

  51. derek says:

Hi, Thanks for the great plugin, is there anyway to remove the .circle ‘timer’ when the slideshow is set to automatically run through the images? I tried to add a css class of visibility:hidden to the .circle but no luck.
