These are some conceptual designs I have developed some time ago together with Daniel Kurth who is equally fascinated by analogue technology and drew my attention towards these old fashioned little tubes. Nixie tubes have been used in all types of numerical display before being replaced by the more modern LCD (Liquid Cristal Display). A nixie tube displays digits by emitting incandescent light. The main challenge in driving nixie clocks today resides in providing the required voltage.
